gene deformities?: <-- Anything in the mother's family that may lead to health problems for the pups, such as a passed on genetic deformity or disease.
distinctive attributes: <-- physically or mentally, something that makes the mother who she is. This could be a marking/birthmark, or something in their history, or a mental disability, something, anything.
health during pregnancy: <-- the mother's health during her pregnancy. This could determine how many pups are born, and how many live.
