jude. I made a wish, Step step. THE JUNKYARD! Just as advertised, a guaranteed promise of a yard full of shit. But with a good nose, who knew the colors you could find? Shiny dots and smell-good smiles. Calloused paws carried an equally calloused loner, step step. One over another. Hunger, hunger. But besides the weary exhaustion, the mood was lifting. The cold of winter was dying, and maybe finally there could be a bite to eat somewhere in the distance? A wet nose scanned the ground, body following every few seconds, and eyes begged for a catch. The straggler had been at this for an hour now, catching a lot of welcoming smells, but doubled were the unwelcoming ones. Even if he did catch the slight smell of even a snack, he lost it with the next whiff. The majority of lucky catches, had lead the canine to this humble abode - a junk yard.
Another hour, and the wolf finally lifted his head. He panted, breath visible in the air, though it was still warmer than it'd been in months. 'Dammit, theres gotta be a bite aroun' 'ere somewhe'..' He inhaled deeply, the smell of the air intoxicating his dramatically singing stomach. He flinched. A scent. He suddenly shot, nose at work, mouth open. Snow splattered splintered under his paws and into the air, and he collided with a mound of trash. He dug furiously, finally pulling out an angry raccoon by the tail. It chattered, squalled, barked, screamed, and other various sounds that are unidentifiable unless you hear it for yourself. Dinner is served! It wasn't too much of a fight, starving wolf vs. Mama coon. Next thing, the salt && pepper wolf lay on his back, gnawing on a bone, fur and bones spread, and a hope for more coons to come.

no one's aware of the hunger I feel
Gurgle. . . grrrg Ughn... Oh how his stomach seared! Like claws scraping at his insides, willing him to eat. Padded paws left stark prints in the scattered snow, lifting dust in the dirt. Showing his trail, the evidence of the living heart still beating within him. Since morning the seal brown canine had trodden across the barren pasture of land, he had not rested, had not eaten anything since the morning before. He didn't have time to hunt, he had to find his home. Once and for all, he could not wait. Not one hour, one moment, one mere second. He feared his heart would wither within his chest, stealing away that last breath from his maw. That same muzzle that now brushed gently across the earth, sniffing delicately at the footprint in the snow. Fur stood erect on his neck, drawing his back into an arch. Another wolf...
He jumped to the side, his legs already running, but he stopped in his tracks. Barring his canines, he closed his eyes, in rage at himself. Only another wolf, why run, like always, like a child. So small and fearful. He could not, not anymore. Turn around. Turn around, dammit! he willed his feet to take him back to the North, but they were frozen in place. With a snarl, he pulled the bulk of his body around to stare forward. To the stone wall ahead. Humans. With a heave of willpower, he strode forward, into the light, into the potential meeting with another wolf. One, two, three, four. And again. He counted his footsteps to ease his mind, staring steadily at the ground and winding around the growing heaps of junk. Under a fence and he could feel a shiver shake his body. It was an immense enclosed pen. He knew instantly he'd never been here, if he'd ever known this was here before, he would have steered clear of the place. But his stomach and dreams urged him onwards, to stalk the shadows of metal and grime.
it's something you or time cannot heal

jude. I made a wish, It took a second for the smell to waft in. Over the smell of racoon carcass and all the junk and other dogs, the smell of another wolf approaching wasn't quite as easy as you'd think for something with such great smell. Not that he was really on his guard. See, one thing about Jude, he was a one relaxed canine. .. Maybe a bit too relaxed. He never found much of a reason to be on his guard. Having grown up with humans, he just assumed most were okay. He never approached them, but he did preffer to be nearby them. The smell of other wolves made him a little more alert, but not much. Only if he was in someone elses territory did he bail. It took him a moment to even realize the scent of the other nearby. He opened his eyes, lifting his head and rolling off his back and onto his stomach, ears perked forward, and one flicking a fly away. His muscles stayed relaxed, eyes open but only halfway, a lazy stare to look for the culprit. 'Tha's a wulf ora dog.. No is go'a be a wulf.. Wond'r whu' e's doin 'ere..' He dropped the racoon's bone from his mouth & licked his jaws boredly, then let out a bear-sized yawn, stretching his front legs and shoulderblades.
He sat back down, tilting his body slightly and lifting his head towards the prisoner of the smell, just in time to see him walk around a mound of trash into view. He looked slightly.. what was the word.. beaten down? He grabbed the bone of the racoon in his mouth again and chewed lazily. "Ah, though' it was some junkya'd git." he said, nodding at a small junkyard dog running by. He smiled his toothy wolfish grin. "Wha's a wolf doin' out here, mate?"
[/sup] but the match never lit. [ooc// basically.. I'll translate for the poor guy, he can't help his accent D; LOL. 'Tha's a wulf ora dog.. No is go'a be a wulf.. Wond'r whu' e's doin 'ere..' = Is that a wolf or a dog.. No its gotta be a wolf.. Wonder what he's doing here.. & "Ah, though' it was some junkya'd git." = "Oh, thought it was some junkyard dog idiot." && "Wha's a wolf doin' out here, mate?" = "Whatcha doing out here?"] [/sub]

Come over here and let me tell you something
What a repulsive smell! Thought the male, wrinkling his nose and shivering at the stench. It smelled as if things had died in here, and he wouldn't for one moment doubt it. Eli panted instead, it made it more bearable, but he could still taste it. This wolf... He wondered if he would encounter a young wolf, preying for food alone. He had seen these before. Most of them barely scraping by scavenging food left by older packs or eating small mice and rats. Or perhaps this canine could be a pack of canines. But no, if his nose was correct, which it usually was, it could only be one. And he only saw one pair of footprints into the junkyard... His imagination could wander further, but Elaestr forced himself to see the main point. It was just like him, searching for something and no matter what that could be, or how strong or young it could be, it has to be seen as dangerous. To underestimate something is a mistake he made oh to often. But then again, so was overestimating...
Winding around another stack of metal scraps he paused, ears swiveling to catch the unmistakable sound of speech. He flicked his plume of a tail, flattening his ears with the jolt of confusing emotions that hit him. Fear, but courage, curiosity, yet denial. Eli slowly turned to stare directly at the other lupine. A larger wolf stood there, amongst the rubble and rabble. The bones of some other creature at his paws, and with a peculiarly laid back expression. Perhaps he wasn't going to attempt to eat him...?
"Pardon me? "
Oh, he's talking to you. Pay attention dammit. First time anyone says anything decent to you in ages and your zoning out! Nice social skills. Pshh. Walking afew steps closer, He sat. He was still a good twenty feet away, staring curiously at the other. Eli meant well, but all he could think of were the remains of the animal beneath him. His stomach complained with more intensity.
" . . .I was.. Just passing through I suppose. I'm looking for someone. " he replied, choosing his words carefully. He didn't want to anger the wolf is this was his 'turf'. " What about you?"

jude. I've been waiting all this time to be "Meh?" He rumbled, licking his jaws once again - not threateningly, of course. Maybe it was just him, or the wolfish instinct, but he got a strange vibe from the wolf. Jittery? Naw. Fearful? Maybe. But Jude even fully admitted himself, he wasn't scary, and couldn't intimidate an alley cat. Or.. could he? The thought brought up a new spark of ego, but a drop of alertness. He was too doggish to understand, maybe, that he acted like he ruled the place half the time without meaning to. Or, in wolf standards anyways. He dozed around anywhere, not really caring who or what approached him. He was the 'big bad wolf,' who was coming after him..? Unless.. of course for the millionth time he managed to walk into a territory, where he was always set back into place by snapping teeth and chattering mothers of pups.
"Well, Bloody likely you'll find 'm 'ere, mate." Jude coughed, flicking his ear at a fly buzzing on around him, surfing on the lazy wind. He nipped at it a couple times, making it fly away only to return, before he stood up with his white flag to the fly. "Eh.. No'n really. Jus' Ha'd lines? Hyahaa." He laughed, taking in the garbage intoxicated air, and sneezed it back. "Naw.. lookin' for some'in to eat, really. 'M Jude." He said, once again pushing a friendly aura, and nodding at him, looking for a name, or some sort of introduction.

Love was never meant to be such a crazy affair, no
Awareness. . . . . yes, he was aware. Frightfully aware. Of the gentle rustle that stole away the leaves and dust, tickling at his whiskers. The lack of trees, of life, but the shoots of grass that struggled to crack and abolish the concrete cage that held them down. Birds, flying in the sky, squawking abrasively to one another, veering down upon the trash that they feasted so often on. Elaestr's ears were pricked to the other's calm face. Sitting lightly on his haunches, he had finally realized that no, he did not think this wolf meant him any harm. But storing the name of his newly found acquaintance away for further reference, he remained silent at the cue for his own. He wasn't going to hand out his name like a party favors, much less to a wolf that he could barely understand. It took effort to work out the code of his accent, and this befuddled Elaestr's mind. He did not want to offend if he misunderstood the other lupine. . .
Well, if he didn't reply at all the conversation would go sour. Brushing his tail to and fro in a friendly manner, he curiously inclined his head, letting a small smile stretch the forgotten muscles for that particular reaction. " Haven't you already caught yourself a fine Coon? " he almost teased before remembering his manners, and continuing, " Are you still hungry? I wouldn't mind getting a bite, myself. " and it was true. It had been days since he'd eaten a full meal, eating rabbits and things to sustain his energy levels to a decent state. It would be nice to hunt with this other male.... He had been in a ceaseless bout of loneliness as of late. To meet another wolf was as exhilarating as it was frightening.
And who has time for tears?

jude. I've been waiting all this time to be "Not Hun'ry mahself, buh'.. We can fine' ya sum'n I'm sure." Jude said, standing up on all fours, dust following his fur, warmth stored under his stomach upon laying down now released. He hadn't realized how cold it was, in fact, maybe he'd only forgotten. Back in England, he only had to worry about if the dog door let him out and in, but some damn weather change. There used to always be a roof to be under.. But no, not anymore, and even in there was one, no heating. Hey, he was getting used to it though. A year now it was..? Sure, he wasn't the best, strongest wolf out there, but to be truthful, he'd observed and learned and knew he was getting the hang of it. He shook his coat, another layer of dirt and dust spraying everywhere, and to follow the show, a sneeze. "There's mill'ns of grubs'n.." He'd already put his nose to the floor, and was sniffing around for something else, any scent. His voice trailed on, he seemed to not even paying attention to what he himself was saying. "'N.. ... 'n othah things.. Loik.. loooooik.. loik a joint'a beef.. somethin'r other.. -.. HAH." Out of nowhere, the wolf suddenly jetted towards the stranger wolf, paws beating the floor, half slipping in a clumsy attempt to gain speed on the ice-ridden floor. He sped up to the wolf, and pushed past him - not on purpose, of course, just in urgency. He sprinted away, breath crystallizing in the air. He shot around the mounds of dirt, not feeling his paw pads scraping into the gravel as he did so, nor caring. He jetted farther and farther away, and then, gone.
..... Only to return again. He sprinted back, not as fast this time, but this time carrying a McDonald's bag. He dropped it in front of the wolf, pawing at the bag till it fell over. Out fell a couple burgers, chicken nuggets, and fries. He grabbed a burger then pulled it away, sniffing furiously, pawing at the paper, until he got to the actual food, and ate it as if heaven had just opened up to him. He lifted his head, a pickle on his nose. "There's ya' coon, chap." He said, a haha expression on, and continued picking the meat out of the burger.
