Time is the illness...
...That makes you cry out in pain
Tab
The sound of water trickling was the only thing to be heard in silent forest. No critter dared to stir as the wolves roamed again. The snow just seemed to be melting on this lonely river. It dripped slowly from the tips of the long grass into the river. The river was dark, foreboding. It was mid day and light still could not penetrate the water.
Tab pushed through brushes, following the scent of water. He had been living off of snow for the past few months. Fresh water was all he wanted. He was nearing closer and closer. Until he was there. It was an eerie sight. The dark water slowing running to an unknown source, the snow, clearly untouched all winter. The small wolf moved closer to the river, head low with curiosity. He gazed at his refection in the dark water, barely able to make out his form. He moved in closer to the water to peer at himself a little clearer. As he face was about to touch the water, a powerful splash came at his face, startled, he tripped into the water. He started wiggling wildly, attempting to pull himself out. His hind paw caught on something large. His head moved back, trying to get a glance at what he hit. It was moving. He yelped slightly as whatever it was was stuck on him. In midst of his failing, he was able to get the front half of him up on the bank. The small wolf had difficulty getting out but he managed to do it. Tab dragged himself across the snow, exhausted. He looked back at the river, it had a slight red tinge to its color now. The fun was not over yet though. Not by a long shot.
He glanced at his paw, wondering whatever in the world could have he gotten stuck on. A chortle came out of his mouth as he saw a small fish caught on his claws. His laughter grew so hard that it was almost unbearable. All of this was because of a little fish. The fish must have also splashed him. What a joke. He was freaking out over nothing. Of course.
He took a moment to brush of that little embarrassment, luckily this place was almost completely abandoned. He shook off the now dead fish and walked over to it, he couldn't let it go to wast now could he? He hadn't eaten in so long. His stomach was defiantly yearning some fish. He viciously devoured the small fish, leaving only the bone. He even consumed the guts. He yawned and stretched out after his small meal, licking his lips. He trotted back to the river for a quick drink. He paused for a moment as he was the once black river was now bright red. He turned his head to the side, puzzled on how that could have happened. He looked up at the sun, nothing out of the ordinary. He brushed it off as nothing, lapping up some water. He shook his head to rid himself of some of the water. He glanced around for a moment, trying to find a suitable place to settle down for a while. He was still dripping wet and needed shelter. He let out a huff of exasperation, as he started to shiver. That water was much colder than he thought, and lying in the snow would kill the small beast.
He wasn't going to die here. He needed some more time.
