Name: Zus Alias: Zus "the Tracker" Sex: Male Age: 4 1/2 years old Breed: Grey wolf
Eye color: his eyes are just an average hazel color, a mix of mostly green, grey and yellowish brown. Build: Zus is a fat wolf. He is quite fat because he lives with humans most of the time and they tend to over feed him, which results in his fatness. It's kind of hard to tell that he is fat sometimes because his fur is long and thick and it stick out almost like he's rubbed balloons on his fur and the static makes it stick up. Because of that, it is hard to tell how big he is until you actually touch his fur and see how deep it goes. However, many wolves and humans underestimate him because of the fact he is quite large, but what they don't know is that he has a decent amount of muscle underneath the fluff and fat. Fur color: For the most part, white, but with grey on the crown of his head, reaching down to his tail. The grey is kind of faint, so he almost pure white, but not quite. Fur length: His fur is very long and it sticks out so he kind of looks like a sheep. texture: Soft. His fur is very soft to the touch, but he does have a secondary coat that is hard and bristly that you can't feel because it sticks flat to his body. In fact, you can barely tell that he has a secondary coat. His secondary coat waterproofs his body so that water doesn't reach his skin, just like any wolf's secondary coat. Height: 27", short but not unnaturally short. Length: 50" Weight: 140 lbs, yes, he's a big boy. Overall look: Like I said before, he bears many similarities to a big, fat sheep. He has a very friendly looking face, and tiny paws so he really doesn't come off as much of a threat. However, like Mommy always says, don't judge a book by its cover. His looks are deceiving. Other: First of all, he has Anosmia, which means he has no sense of smell. Yes, quite ironic for a tracker. Zus is a tracker with no sense of smell, and because most taste comes from smell, he doesn't have much of a sense of taste. However, though this may seem a disadvantage for Zus, his other senses make up for his lack of smell and his diminished taste. His sight, hearing, and feeling is much better because of this.
Another problem with Zus is his epilepsy. His epilepsy includes Generalized Tonic-Clonic (grand mal) seizures, in which he will fall and flail and have the typical seizure symptoms, but when he wakes up he is confused and he has amnesia for the event. The sad part, is that Zus doesn't know that he has epilepsy, so he just goes about his life and when he is tracking another wolf or human or gets himself into a dangerous situation, he might have a seizure from hyper focusing his brain on something but when he comes to, he is too confused to listen to anyone that tells him he had a seizure.
History: Zus isn't exactly your typical breathe wolf. First of all, he didn't have a sob-story life, his life was very good. He was born into captivity, in a reserve just outside of a large city. The first few months of his life were spent getting acquainted with both the elements of the wild and the half-dependency on humans. He learned how to hunt, but he also learned how to accept food from other sources.
One day, early in Zus's life, the humans noticed that Zus often did not respond to food if he didn't see it and if they did not announce the presence of food. So, the humans tested his sense of smell and found it was completely absent. Along with that, they discovered he could eat pretty much anything because he had a very weak sense of taste. The humans doubted he would be able to get along very well in the wild without a sense of smell, but his father used to work along side humans in the police force, and therefore his father did not accept this.
In order to prove the humans wrong, Zus's father took him out of the reserve and immersed him into the world of the wild. He responded to this new world with an expression of careful-awe, always sticking close to his father's side but hypnotized by the lack of walls and boundaries. Sadly, he never would know the smell of the woods, but instead his father taught him to depend on other senses, especially his senses of touch, sight, and hearing.
Zus and his father would often return to the reserve, but for the next year and a half, he made many more trips like this, learning and discovering how to survive in the wild on his own. Often times, during these trips, his epilepsy would become apparent and he would fall into a seizure and awaken as if nothing had happened. His father would sometimes accompany him on his trips, but when Zus had seizures, his father decided not to tell him.
Eventually, He was getting along famously without two senses and he became quite good at tracking. His excellence with tracking began to spread across the nearby city with whispers of fear and excitement. It spread like wildfire, till it reached a family whose child had gone missing for a few days. They went to the reserve to consult the Zus's handler to see if there was any chance he could try to find their child. They showed Zus a picture of their child, speaking in their strange language of grunts and whines that he could not understand, but at the same time hehad a gut feeling of what they wanted from him.
The parents took Zus in a kennel, with his handler present, to the last place their child had been spotted. Zus knew that the child had gone out of the city and into the outside world and so he began tracking. With the help of his eyes, ears, and feeling, he was able to build a mental picture of the child and successful track the kid down. When Zus returned to the city with the child, the parents were overjoyed and from then on, Zus stayed with them and they turned his tracking abilities into a profit. He lived with them and in thanks for what he'd done for them, they showered him with food and gifts. He was very happy, and occassionally, they would take him by the reserve to see his proud parents at the child's request.
One day, the family decided they should move to new city, a city in turmoil that they hoped they might be able to help in some way. They moved to Keizigma when Zus was 4 years old. He had been living with his family for a few years when they moved, and he was upset that he wouldn't be able to see his parents very often anymore, but he accepted the move as a duty. However, in Keizigma city, not all the requests for tracking were for humans. Now, they wanted him to find other wolves. And he did, but what he didn't know was when he led other wolves into the city, often times they were sent to labs or they were simply killed. He assumed that the wolves he made friends with would simply find a family to call their own in the city.
Often times, he will leave his family for long periods of time to just to explore the wild, but he always returns because he feels a fierce sense of loyalty to the family that he has watched over for so many years. He enjoys making friends with other wild wolves, but the only wolves he really brings into the city are ones he is asked to hunt for.
Personality: When Zus meets new wolves, he is usually a friendly, gregarious sort of guy with child-like enthusiasm. He tends to be a bit naive about humans because he has only met nice humans, so he tends to be a bit defensive when the topic of mean humans comes up. He really is a nice wolf, but sometimes if someone breaks his extreme consentration, he can get vicious.
