And the hardest part of living is just taking breaths to stay.

Ebony padded paws carried the lithe canine form swiftly down the seemingly endless beach, inflamed muscles bunching and releasing repeatedly, footprints marking an evident trail in the cold snow covered sand, after kicking it up to be swept into the salty breeze. After miles of running, her body ached to stop, her muscles screaming out in pain, but instead of giving into the throbbing within her limbs, she let it sink in to her very being, enjoying the liberating feeling. Whiteness enveloped her entire being, blocking out the surrounding scenery which carried her ashen colored silhouette. The sand blanketed in a velvety fluff beneath her paws, the ocean at her side and the trees to her opposite were all blocked out with the white-hot pain that accompanied her exhausted muscles. Just a bold color, obscuring her vision from the world around her. The ocean crashing against the shores was but a mere drumming within her elevated auds. She focused on her shaky and heavy breathing, ignoring everything else.
She continued on like this for a long while, taking in the suffocating heat that had enveloped her as her body released, attempting to cool itself off. But eventually she had to come to a stop when she felt her limbs could take no more exertion. She slowed to a walk, and ultimately to a halt. Her world seemed to spin, the white-out effect slowly draining from her vision, the scenery being made known to her once more. Her chest heaved as she struggled to catch her breath, dragging in every last ounce of oxygen, while ignoring the urge to collapse to the sandy beach. With each breath taken into her nares, she began to taste the salt that lingered in the air. She pressed her tongue to the roof of her mouth unconsciously and shook out her auburn colored fur, while slowly pivoting on her hind legs to face the vast ocean before her. She narrowed her eyes as the white-capped, indigo ocean came into sight. Her exhaustion was forgotten as she pondered over how she'd managed to put such a large distance between herself and the blue abyss. Slowly, she turned her elevated cranium to peer down the seemingly endless beach. But the sights were all the same, just as they'd been during her long run.
After bringing a halt to her exhausting run she'd taken a seat on the flat surface of a rock nearby, attempting to catch her breath and relax her tiring muscles. After that she had every intention of seeking out some company to serve as her day's entertainment. Whether or not she'd find any was completely in the hands of Fate. Although a good amount of scents lingered in the salty air she wasn't sure that any of them would even be worth the time she was currently willing to put forward by interracting with her kind for the first time in months. Of course she had a secret hope to happen upon a male, one that could possibly hold his own in a conversation. There were few things of which she were completely certain when it came to finding the right companion. One, she was not interested in associating with the same sex. Most of her gender tended to irk her, whether it was their intention or not. And although she gave all genders a fair chance to gain her interest, her impressions of females had always been more guarded, leaving them with a slim chance of them actually intriguing her. And two, she had no patience for small talk. She could discuss the weather in her own mind, she didn't need a wolf to give his insignificant opinions about it or any other topic similiar to this one. Her desires were extremely picky and overly thorough, but they were honest. She didn't want her first meeting with a wolf to end badly.
With that thought, she raised her slender muzzle to the heavens above, as if directing her developing call to the gods who hovered there. Blackened lips parted to release a melodic and naturally eerie call to anyone who listening. As her song came to an end she lowered her cranium to it's normal height, emerald pools searching for a replying specimen of life.
